A New Semi-Quantitative Process Safety Assessment Method and Its Application for Fluorochemical Industry

Traditional hazard and operability analysis (HAZOP) is one of the most widely applied methods for process safety management in enterprises. Due to its principles based on conservative qualitative judgment, it often leads too risk identification results fluorine chemical industry usually with high-risk processes keep continuity production. Most improved quantitative semi-quantitative are layer protection (LOPA) resolve over-conservative problem traditional HAZOP database LOPA. However, model, taking LOPA as main line only provider scenarios influencing factors, limited fact that can analyze complete independent layers (IPLs). Therefore, order realize or disaster causes consequences, a new method takes integrate LOPA, F&EI (fire explosion index) quantitatively calculating reduction probability failure demand (PFD) general (GPLs) PFD IPLs. With case comparison industry, proved this effectively improve complex scenarios.
